Darrell Kemp, one of several auctioneers helping the university, acknowledges a bid during the 2009 Auction and Dinner.
Now's your chance to put in a bid to lock in your winter getaway or next year's summer vacation. Tickets are on sale now through July 30 for the Sixth Annual Campbellsville University Athletic Booster Auction and Dinner, to be held Thursday, Aug. 5 in the Winters Dining Hall of the E. Bruce Heilman Student Complex. Cost is $25.
The live auction will feature approximately 30 lots, including sports collectibles, golf outings, romantic getaways and a week-long stay in Aruba. There will also be a silent auction of an additional 20 lot items.
In 2009, more than 200 community and business leaders, including several alumni and friends of Campbellsville University Athletics, attended the event, which brought in more than $12,000 for CU athletics. The goal for this year is to reach at least $15,000.
"I
want to thank those who support our student-athletes at Campbellsville
University every year by attending the annual Booster Club dinner and auction and am looking forward to what this year's event will bring,"
said Rusty Hollingsworth, CU director of athletics. "The event has been a
success due to the generosity of many individuals and businesses in our
community."
The event is headed by Director of the Big Maroon Club, Chuck Vaughn who is hoping to provide even a better atmosphere this year than last.
"Not only will this be a great opportunity to bid on some nice items, but there will also be a delicious meal served," Vaughn said. "The
athletic boosters and the university really appreciate the many
businesses and individuals who donate items and make the evening so
enjoyable."
In addition to looking for items to include in the auction, Vaughn and the CU coaching staff are looking for business to sponsor the event to help underwrite the costs. Gold Sponsors are $500, Silver Sponsors are $250 and Bronze Sponsors are $125. Sponsors will be listed in the program for the night and acknowledged at the auction.
Local
auctioneers, John Kessler, Rufus
Hansford and Darrell Kemp will take turns at the auctioneering
microphone during the live auction.
