Campbellsville University women's swimming signed another recruit for 2010-11 last week: Katleen Ewing from Madisonville-North Hopkins High School.

Ewing, a three-time Kentucky state qualifier, was named the MNHHS team captain the past two years and was the 2009-10 recipient of her team's Coaches' Award. She brings in best times of 1:06 in the 100-meter butterfly, 1:02 in the 100-meter free and is in the high 26 seconds for the 50-meter free.

"With her knowledge of the sport and her work ethic, she will be a valued asset on our team," Hines said.

Ewing, who began swimming at age 3, comes from a family of swimmers. Her oldest sister, Emile, was an All-American and Southeastern Conference Champion for Auburn University and was a part of two NCAA National Championship teams. She is the daughter of Jeff and Anne Ewing and has one other sister, Elizabeth, who also is a swimmer.

Ewing plans to major in elementary education.

Ewing will join Catie Sattler of Grand Rapids, Mich., as an incoming freshman to the CU swim team. Sattler, who signed with CU in April, also comes from a family of swimmers. Her mother, Connie, was a NAIA All-American at Hope College.
