Campbellsville, Kentucky - Campbellsville University Head Football Coach Perry Thomas has announced the addition of 22 signees, which brings the total number of the 2008 recruiting class to 58 at this point.
"We've signed some quality young men who are going to make excellent football players at Campbellsville and many of these guys will help take our program back to the top of the Mid-South Conference," Thomas said. "I'm pleased with the caliber of players we've been able to bring in so far and many of these guys will have the opportunity to step in and contribute right away," he added.
The latest signees are:
Demetric Ray, a Wide Receiver from Warren East High School in Bowling Green, KY. Ray was a member of the 2007 District and Regional Championship team that made it to the State-Semi Finals. He received the Wide Receiver Award from Warren East.
Jonathan Blake Roberts, a Linebacker from Owensboro High School, Owensboro, KY. Roberts was a four year starter for the Red Devils and had 46 solo tackles and 58 assisted tackles in his senior season.
Logan Armstrong, a 6'0", 198 lb. Tackle from Mayfield High School, Mayfield, KY. Armstrong was a three year starter and total 338 tackles during his high school career. He started at Quarterback for Mayfield his senior season and threw for 965 yards and 15 touchdowns while rushing for 414 yards. Mayfield was 40-16 in Armstrong's four seasons on the team with three regional championships and one state runner-up.
Tommy McNutt a Kicker from Mayfield High School, Mayfield, KY. McNutt had a punting average of 37 yards per punt and kicked 168 extra points in his four year career which is a school record. He kicked 16 field goals in his career and 88 of his kickoffs were touchbacks.
Chris Kitts, a Wide Receiver/Defensive Back from Gibbs High School in Knoxville, TN. Kitts had 1000 yards in career receiving with 8 touchdowns. He was 2nd team All Region in 2006.
Nathan Cooper, a 6'0", 190 lb. Quarterback from Owensville, Missouri. Cooper threw for a career total of 3,790 yards and 49 touchdowns while rushing for a total of 683 yards and ten touchdowns in his career. He also recorded an average of 34.4 yards per punt on 55 punts in 2006-07.
David Hon, Jr., a 5'11", 160 lb. Kicker from Orange Park, Florida. Hon made 12 Field Goals in his three year carer and converted 50 out of 54 extra point attempts.
Mitch Wier, a Linebacker from North Daviess High School in Plainville, Indiana. Wier had 73 tackles and six sacks last season and was the team captain in 2006 and 2007.
Will Danks, a Strong Safety from Ohio County High School in Hartford, Kentucky. Danks has a career total of 2,593 yards rushing and 394 yards receiving. He scored 27 total touchdowns in his career and made 359 tackles.
Olan Andrews a Defensive Back from Ft. Campbel High School in Ft. Campell, Kentucky. Andrews has 12 kick-off returns for 298 yards and one touchdown last season. He recorded 57 total tackles and was a member of the 2007 Fort Campbell State Championship team.
Corey Downing, an Offensive Lineman from North Bullitt High School in Bullitt County, Kentucky. Downing was the captain and received several All District and All Conference awards.
Benjamin Craig Grimm, a 6'6", 270 lb. Lineman from Reidland High School in Paducah, Kentucky. Grimm was the 2006 and 2007 Defensive Lineman of the Year and also a member of the All West Kentucky Conference team.
Nathan Gregory Stout, a 6'1", 290 lb. Offensive Lineman from Independence High School in Thompson Station, Tennessee. Stout had35 tackles his senior year and also 85 knockdowns. He was the All Region 6-5A Lineman of the Year and helped lead the team to an 11-4 record and Class 5A State Runer-up season.
John Patrick Clark, a 5'9", 166 lb. Wide Receiver/Defensive Back from Harpeth High School in Kingston Springs, TN. Clark played foootball and basketball for four seasons for Kingston Springs.
Phillip Coury, a 5'10, 190lb. Lineman from Oakland Park Florida.
Welby Fred Lewis Hutchison, a 6'1", 190 lb. Running Back from Southwestern High School in Somerset, Kentucky. Hutchison had 112 tackles and also caught ten passes for 112 yards along with having 35 carries for 181 yards and a touchdown.
