Campbellsville University sits in fifth place among women's teams as the Mid-South Conference Track & Field Championship enters its final day of events Saturday.

The Lady Tigers picked up big second-place finishes from Kotey Crowe in the pole vault and Tawny Vilchis in the javelin to help boost them into fifth place with 45 points, only 14 points out of the lead.
 
Crowe vaulted a personal record and school record of 9 feet, while Vilchis competed in the javelin event for the first time and threw a school record of 35.05 meters to qualify in the event for the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Championships.

Another record-setting throw came in the women's hammer event, as Apryll Wilson became the first Campbellsville woman to enter the event. She placed sixth with a throw of 26.19 meters. She was also seventh in the shot put.

Other women's Top 8 finishes were Bonnie Joy Boulware (4th, pole vault), Tiosha Beasley (5th, long jump), Toya Canty (7th, long jump), Crowe (5th, javelin), Summer Rines (6th, 10K), Kasey Vitkus (8th, 10K) and a fourth-place 4x800-meter relay time of 10:41.74 ran by Starsha Fant, Natasha Janes, Vitkus and Rines.

Following the day's competition, four Lady Tigers (Porshia Hutcherson, Kaitlyn Pritchett, Boulware and White) were honored at the tournament banquet as Academic All-Conference selections.

Shorter College leads the women's field with 69 points, followed by the University of the Cumberlands (61), host University of Rio Grande (49), Lindsey Wilson College (46) and Campbellsville (45). Georgetown College has 23 points and Bethel (Tenn.) College has 10 points.

The championship meet concludes Saturday, as Campbellsville is scheduled to compete in all events on the schedule. The day begins with the remaining field events at 10:30 a.m. All events Saturday are finals, as preliminaries for held Friday.
