Starsha Fant won the 400
A first-place finish in the 400-meter dash by Starsha Fant lifted Campbellsville University past its Mid-South Conference foes and into a fourth-place finish at the Centre College Invitational.

Fant shaved four seconds off her time to set a personal record and Campbellsville record in the 400 with a time of 1:00.59. It was her only individual points for the day, as she missed placing in the 800-meter run by nine-tenths of a second.

The Lady Tigers edged each of the Mid-South Conference opponents at the meet and were the top-ranked NAIA team on the day, despite strong winds most of the day. Campbellsville scored 73 points as a team, 33 more than Lindsey Wilson College and 36 more than the University of the Cumberlands.

Tiosha Beasley posted the most individual points (13) for CU, collecting a second-place finish in the triple jump and a fifth-place finish in the long jump. Beasley improved her long jump (16 feet, 10 inches) by 8 inches and added two feet to her triple jump (35 feet, 1 3/4 inches). Koty Crowe and Daisy Perez each placed third individually in the pole vault and 3,000-meter steeplechase, respectively. Cotey's vault of 8 feet, 6 inches tied the school record.

Kaitlin Pritchett had nine individual points for CU, finishing fourth in the 100-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles.

Fant, Pritchett, Toya Canty and Porshia Hutcherson placed third in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:11.18.

"The girls' 4x400 meter relay team cut nearly a half of a second off their time and wasn't push in their heat," CU head coach Joe Stockton said.

But the biggest surprise of the weekend for Stockton was walk-on Bonnie Joy Boulware. She cleared 7 feet,  6 inches in the pole vault and nearly went 33 feet in triple jump.

"She is going to improve because she enjoys doing both events," Stockton said.

CU collected its 73 points with one first-place finish (10), one second-place finish (8), three third-place finishes (18), six fourth-place finishes (30), one fifth-place finish (4) and three eighth-place finishes (3).

Campbellsville will travel to the University of the Cumberlands on April 10.
