One week after collecting 11 school records in the season opener, Campbellsville University women's track and field added three more on Saturday at the Hanover College Invitational in Hanover, Ind. Louisville freshman Starsha Fant helped collect two of the records and lead Campbellsville to a fourth place overall finish.
Fant finished fifth in the 800-meter run to set a school record time of 2:30.53. She also ran a 60 second split in the 4x400 relay, as the Lady Tigers shaved seven seconds off their time from the previous week and finished second with a CU record time of 4:11.55.
Katlin Pritchett also posted a school record, finishing third in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:10.12.
Long Beach, Calif. native Tawny Vilchis scored the most individual points for CU with 13 in the meet. She took second in the 3,000 steeplechase with a time of 12:21.63 and was fourth in the 5,000 meter run at 19:43.55. Apryll White and Pritchett each had 12 individual points after placing second and third, respectively, in the 100 hurdles and third and fifth, respectively, in the 400 hurdles. Pritchett helped contribute the most points of anyone, as she also helped pick up points as a member of the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams. Tiosha Beasley had 10 individual points with a third place finish in triple jump, seventh place finish in long jump and two eighth place finishes in the 100- and 200-meter dashes.
Campbellsville's 89 team points came from three second-place finishes (24), four third-place finishes (24), four fourth-place finishes (20), two fifth-place finishes (8), two sixth-place finishes (6), two seventh-place finishes (4) and three eighth-place finishes (3).
The Lady Tigers' were the second best NAIA team at the
meet behind second-place Huntington University. NCAA Division II school
Belarmine University won the meet with 166 points, while NCAA Division
III school Franklin College was third with 94 points.
Campbellsville will travel to Danville, Ky., April 3 for the Centre College Invitational.
