Andrew Simmons of Daviess County High School in Owensboro, Ky., recently signed to run men's cross country and track and field at Campbellsville University. He is the first men's distance runner signed for 2010 by new cross country head coach Hilary Cebulko.

He finished 27th overall at the 2009 Kentucky State Cross Country Meet. His best time in a 5K is 16:36. In track, his personal records are 10:07 for the 2-mile and 4:45 in the mile.

"I'm very excited to sign Andrew, and I believe he is going to fit right in with the team. He loves to run and is enthusiastic about running. From talking with his parents and his coach, he works very hard and wants to do well in life. I am thrilled to have Andrew as a part of this team for the fall next year, and I am excited that he was my first recruit signing for the men's team. He is a good start to a great team next year and only good things will come in the future," Cebulko said.
