CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — The Lady Tigers used a no-hitter from first-year pitcher Kelsi Pardue and a 17-4 hit discrepancy to dispatch the University of the Cumberlands in a double-header this afternoon, 8-0, 5-1, at Veterans Memorial Park.
Campbellsville 8, Cumberlands 0
Emma Napier's first-inning lead-off home run turned out to be the only run the Lady Tigers (7-4, 2-0) would need in this run-rule game.
Napier went on a 4-for-4 day at the plate, with four RBIs and two runs scored. Pardue did not allow a Patriot runner to reach base, shutting Cumberlands down in 18 at-bats for her third win of the year. She struck out six.
Campbellsville 5, Cumberlands 1
CU slapped the ball around safely seven times, the big one a three-run homer in the third off the bat of Kristin Benton. Vincent and Border had two hits apiece with Napier and Paragon each reaching safely once.
Campbellsville heads out tomorrow on a five-day, nine-game swing south that will eventually lead them to the Gulf Coast Invitational, Gulf Shores, Ala.
